Obama reaches out to Muslim world
President Barack Obama has come off to a great start in my opinion. In true Progressive Liberal form, our new president extended his hand to the Muslim world by having an interview with Al Arabiya, a Dubai based TV network, and announcing that 'Americans are not your enemy'. I thought this was a very honorary example, for a US President to actually propose peace with Arab nations, after looking at the history of US-Middle East ties. Even though Obama clearly stated that his administration will continue to hunt the terrorists that kill innocent civilians, he has also clearly announced that he will work towards a better relationship between the US and its Muslim counterparts.
I personally believe that this is a very positive act, seeing how Muslims worldwide were under seige due to Bush and his wild goose chase for terrorists and WMD's. I am sure I was not the only person who was disgusted by the Bush regime's thoughts and actions towards the Muslim nation, and this to me seems like a reversal of that inaccurate view previously held of the Muslim community. Even though President Obama was a bit vague about how he is going to deal with the Isreal-Palestine conflict, and the recent 3 week invasion that Israel just recently concluded, it was overall a great interview.
