Rod Blagojevich; Wrongfully Accused or Corrupt Inividual?

As a commentator, nothing has ever impressed me more than the way Ex- Governor Rod Blagojevich disrupted Senate in the past few weeks. As we have seen in recent history, whenever a Governor is caught in the midst of a scandal, he immediately resigns and becomes the butt of all Late Night Talk show hosts for a few moths and slowly disappears, as we have seen in the case of Former NY Governor Elliot Spitzer and Former NJ Governor Jim McGreevy.
But Rod Blagojevich, caught trying to sell President Elect Barack Obama's seat for personal profit (and other similar acts of corruption), has denied his allegations so well that he almost had people convinced of his innocence. I mean, if there wasnt any hard evidence caught on this man, you would believe that he had been wrongfully accused. But then when you see the list of evidence, including a 76 page FBI dossier of wire taps of Blagojevich allegedly 'hawking' the vacant Senate Seat, his guilt is plainly obvious.
But what I still dont understand is why he insisted on presuming his innocence like that? I even read an article in which he used and quoted poetry ( Rudyard Kipling, if I am not mistaken) as a method of proving his innocence.....
Really Blagojevich...really?
